Diving the Great Barrier Reef

We finally ticked this item off our bucket list - yay!!

We started our exploration tour of the reef in Town of 1770 (Captain Cook is definitely not winning the award for most creative town names...) with a tour out to Lady Musgrave island on the Southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.

Our next trip was a 3 day vacation from travelling on Heron Island, another little island paradise. We managed to dive 8 times in the time we had there and absolutely loved it! Warm water, excellent conditions and plenty of wildlife - sharks, turtles, mantarays, bullrays, lots of tropical fish, etc. It truly was diving heaven!

We then drove on to Airlie Beach and decided to now experience the reef from above by booking a 1 hour flight over the Whitsunday Islands and the reef. It was absolutely fantastic!!

Our next items on our itinerary are diving the wreck of 'Yongala' in Ayr on Tuesday and then a 4 day Liveaboard (=living on a boat) from Cairns starting on Thursday. So, you won't hear from us until we're back on land again :)
